I've been working on this over at the place formally known as Twitter, but I'm at the screaming stage, so I thought I would start posting the rest of the build here, since I'm far enough along. How it started...
HEy mate, I know it is a bit pricey but Vue 11 xStream works directly with Maya. I used to work with (fiddle I should say) xStream on 3DS Max and it certainly integrates well. Not that it is problem free but you can actually work on your landscape on 3DS Max viewport and really, Vue capabilities are vast. Like I said…
The most streaks are now leaking down from overhangs like the letters, the Coinslots or the Keyhole. Ive deleted the Rust on the Front and added just a slightly rust in mix with the streaks on the upper right corner. I popped up a bit the Material on the normal and added some slightly scratches on the front plastic plate…
Wow, I never noticed this before but I'm living in Hawaii atm and apparently soda cans on the mainland don't have ridges at the top! Here's an example (pic not mine): This is pepsi but it's the same way with Coke and Dr. Pepper, apparently. As for the water streaks, the condensation won't change the diffuse color so I…
I applaud the fact you've looked into this to the depth you have - I wish more people did that rather than accept the first 12 year old answer they got from Google but if you do everything else right your concerns are really a non issue and if you don't do the other stuff right you have bigger problems than vertex count…
eazy/specsowl/donavonyoung/threesidedpolygon - Thanks! I want to finish him, like him too much. So with the straps, yeah, I'll do that next time for sure. Just want to finish this one. See way too much that I would change now, and don't want to spend that much more time on him. But here's a revisit to him with a base…
There would be nothing wrong with a manager who doesn't know anything about 3d, as long as they were skilled at project management, juggling schedules and overlaps, and trying to get the vision from above (or from the side in the game design department) implemented without trying to insert changes of their own.…
@TorQue[MoD] In one of the streams, Epic guys did address your problem. You can crank up the Indirect Lightning Quality and lower the Indirect Lighting Smoothness. This will increase the build time, but at least somewhat cure the problem. It's not a 100% perfect because you still get the seam or artifact. The reason is…
@Sean I see that video posted quite often. While it does provide some insight, I don't see how it's a solution. You can't uv moderately complex asset so that uv seams don't "fall in between pixels". Also, lightmaps will compress, mip and stream like crazy and your asset has to hold up. @Hayden Zammit You are wasting tons…
