I would probably cut off the biped hands and use custom bones. The pivots for biped hands are incredibly hard to place in an exact place and orientation because changes up the arm, effect the hand placement, there isn't a "bone edit mode" for biped like there is for standard bones and CAT. If you remove support edges you mess with normals which means your baked normal map is no longer valid. You can patch it up to an extent by transferring normals from the original mesh to the edited one but it's all a massive hack and what I would classify as a shit way to do things. Personally I avoid baking to cylinders… -

cant delete sphere after transfer attribute in maya to canopy-removes normals transfered.
so i transfered attributes of the sphere to the canopy. But i cant delete the sphere cus its connected to the canopys normals now.
