It's really smart, really fucking sneaky tactics. I'm a huge fan of pretty much everything Blizzard has done and Magic : The Gathering is something I still spend the odd hour playing with my friends. They have managed to make something as casual as a card game look really fun and sparkly. And adopting the whole…
I didn't htink this model had any serious flaws. Maybe the low-poly style keeps it from looking like the latest, hardware pushing AAA type of models that get the most attention on AS. But I feel like it has a nice style, but perhaps it hasn't been fully realized. I feel that the haircards could be increased a bit to give a…
I forgot to mention one other thing: Once you start working freelance be sure to spend time on personal work for your portfolio. You hopefully will be working on some awesome games and making great work for them, but the chances are that the work will be under NDA until they ship (which might be never...). While at the…
The offline shots look really nice, only the scratches on the grip are odd, since they ignore curvature and thats wrong, also they look more like tiny hairs. Just be careful with your scale and edges. That carving in the grip will maybe 5-10 pixels in your normal and is even barely readable currently. You seem to work for…
thanks dudes... @rawkstar... hahah yeah i totally agree, wait some there might be a few changes coming up. @kolby..the shots are realtime, but they are also older, at the present time i personally think it looks better, but i am sorry i cant elaborate on why. the article gave some pretty strong praise and i can say its…
Hi all, first post here but I'm currently on my journey of getting into tech art and I've hit the topic of parallax mapping. There are quite a few posts on here regarding this, but they mostly seem quite outdated and I wanted to see if perspectives have shifted or remain the same regarding the use of parallax mapping. I've…
Hello, We're a small team looking to improve our game assets management, tracking and storage capabilities. As our projects continue and we generate more assets, I'd like to help make it easier to track changes made to them, as well as find them easily. We currently upload to Google Drive to download and upload assets as…
Thank you! Sure no problem! The overall mesh was about 175k. I was aiming for more or less AAA polygon budgets. The body used a base mesh topology that I zwrapped to my high res, and I used the lowest subdivision for most of the body, and subdivided just the head(merging vertices on the border to avoid ngons). For the…
i am not a modeling expert but for automative retopo of CADS models i get pretty good result with this. i would use moi 3D to go from nurbs to poly. i would not hesitate to have many materials groups in the initial model to sort pieces i would import them in houdini and for each loop each pieces and process it into quad…
Hi there! Great question! There are a lot of things people say about what should or should not be on a portfolio. However, something that I found to be repeated quite some times by professionals that work at several AAA companies, is to have relevant work on your portfolio. With this, they often mean that they want to see…
