Probably going to need a bit more info, like time period, general style/theme, country. Or why and how everything is abandoned, like did scavengers make hideouts after the bombs? Maybe the nomadic survivors of The Disease have little cloth-wrapped cigar boxes or roped-up gas canisters used like luggage.
@Brian "Panda" Choi Sorry for the late response I had to go to work last night. (References) At first I was going to make a champagne bottle with the label and wrapping on it but I ran into problems with trying to make the foil at the top. I am still going to work on the champagne bottle I just need to think of other was…
You can think of XNormal as the camera that you can take picture of very detailed model (millions of poly) that you make (usually in ZBrush) and paste that picture of details on to your low polygon model. How good it looks also depends on your ability to UV wrap your low poly, among other things.
I've been developing a way of making frayed cloth. I'm still playing around with the brush, but i'll post it when i'm happy with it. Also, what do you call these wrist wraps? My googling has been exhausted... Anyway, adjusted some proportions, tidied some paint, experimented with cloth and made a pendant.
I think its a good start. I would suggest taking some time and doing a study on cobblestone. Right now I think its lacking a lot of color and the spec map is not really helping right now. It has a very plastic wrap look to it at the moment. Also what engine are you rendering this in right now?
Yay! Much appreciated! I am glad to be pretty much done. I can add a few little things here and there but.. i am just happy to finally have this wrapped up. Will get a video out soon of all of the little moving bits. Thanks again for all of your help everyone! This community is amazing!
Assani, I think your face proportions are off Her eyes, for instance, seems too small. Overall head shape is longer than it is in the concept. I'm not getting the same feel. The clothing wrinkles, especially on the arm, could use more care as to their origin of anchor and how they wrap aroun the arm as gravity pulls them…
actually I'd be interested in the things that are not yet well in 4.0 - kinda what to watch out for or what not to expect in 4.0 yet. Like did anyone play with the new particle engine - is it all wrapped now or are some features still not implemented? Or the new animation system, is it full featured or are some things…
I had a similar idea myself! This looks great, although I think having his right arm up in the air (perhaps holding a cowboy hat) would add to the overall comedic feeling of the shot. Also, having his legs pointed out, rather than wrapped around the missile would look better too.
I don't know why, but I just can't wrap my head around weight painting. Building the skeleton and controls comes more naturally to me. I've tried in Maya and Blender, but I never get it looking good. My last attempt on this character was using edit mode, but I didn't see any improvement.
