Also, I can't let slide an opportunity to drop one tiny snarky comment for good measure : If photobashing was such a great design technique, then we would see more than just rag-wearing, assault rifle holding post apocalyptic robots soldiers made with it :) Sorry, I just had to :D
I would like to also throw out there that Regular Show is pretty great if you like stuff like Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. If you don't like Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure then I'm sorry robot. I hope some day us humans can teach you to love.
He looks kinda wobbly for a precisely made robot - I'm still not sure why there are so many people doing hard surface modelling in z-brush... I think you get much nicer results using good old sub-d in maya or max. But thats just me talking.
Not sure if this is supposed to be who do I think should win, or who will win? Who I think should (from what I've seen so far) is katzeimsack, though there are a lot of great entries out there. Who will win? Either something generic and robotic or something generic and demonic. But we'll see eh! :)
So our class was working in teams to create a mass effect scene. The environment artists also had two weeks to make some sort of robotic arm/device/droid thing and have it all rigged and animated. Here is what I did. Didn't really get a lot of time for animation but I got it done which is what really mattered.
Hey, Over the last several weeks I created this robot character as part of a science fiction world I've been working on. A key reference and goal for the project was to create a character as simple and endearing as WALL-E. Any feedback on where you think I went wrong or right would be greatly appreciated. Best Ben…
So .. I recently picked up the challenge of modeling a robot as big as the one from Titan Fall. I did use it as a reference of course but then decided to add some of my own stuff to it. Tell me what you guys think. So far I've finished the legs. This is a WIP after finishing day 2 of this project.
Thanks man! :D Cheers :D Here is an update on the robotic arm, In all the ref images a lot of surfaces are covered in fabric tarps but, i really like the hard surface metal look of the main concepts so I am going to stick to that. Will likely have it moving a module or something in the final scene
Nice work going on here Tortillachips, reminds me of the DVD i bought recently by Mike jenson (Hard surface techniques in Zbrush). I recently created an environment set in zbrush and had always planned to create a mech robot also, might need to get starting soon. Anyways keep going
Thank You So Much! It Feels Good To Hear That From Such An Amazing Artist As Yourself :) Ill Get Those Parts Fixed Up ASAP :) I still go back and look at your sci-fi slum enviro all the time, I Love It! Btw the robot is looking great as well :D
