For subjects like armor, architecture, etc...after doing some research into real world samples, I find it helps me inform my design choices better (when i draw). Makes the final art it less randomly assembled and gives me some direction, some ideas where to "freestyle". And also helpful when analyzing and understanding…
I've been getting back into game art and tech lately. 2014 was a busy year for me and it made a big dent in my game work. I've been working on a few things that are really about one thing: mobile games. Those things are shaders, scripting, batching and art techniques that work well on mobile. The goal is to create a…
Forget about the colours and highlights and everything. It is very important that you get his proportions down first because at the moment they are totally off. Find some reference of men standing up and observe how your drawing differs, take Jonas advice and even TRACE reference for your character to get the proportions…
I'd probably start with the community college. Take some general stuff you can transfer with if you decide to take it further. Then take as many drawing, 2d/color theory and figure drawing classes as you can. Even if you aren't going to do character art for games, the figure drawing classes will help tremendously with your…

Whoa! you've already put in a ton of work - very cool :+1: Anyhow some critique which may be useful. Firstly this scene wip, I think there's a lot of 'grimy rust' on what seems to be riveted boxed load bearing iron beams in between those concrete slabs and main roof supports, including that metal platform stairwell element…
There’s a huuuge range of resources out there to browse. I can say taking up life drawing classes is super important to teach you anatomy. It’s best if you can find a local class to go to, but study from photo reference if you can’t. I’d recommend the book “Force: Dynamic Life Drawing” which you can find on amazon.…
