@Yoji Hey man, what I would suggest is creating 4 or 5 cards. Lay them out to create UVs. Then duplicate. I guess that is future reference unless you want to recreate your hair. I've got a problem. Whenever I go to Render to Texture, in 3ds Max 2010 to render out my Normal, with the projection modifier, it keeps introducing 'Automatic Flatten UVs' modifier into the stack. Max2010 you can use graphite modeling tools (or polyboost for 2009 and lower) to select faces based on # of edges. Try a program called 'Roadkill' it's free. Basically you just select on your seam where you wish to weld/cut and it will automatically adjust your UVs to minimize stretching, it also has a programmatic texture that will visually show you the stretching with colors.
