Good read, thanks for writing this out. I personally prefer cage meshes, they are the cleanest solution in my opinion. It can be an additional pitfall, but I think you need it anyway. If you have an object with lots and lots of cylinders, adding in additional loops to fix skewing/wavyness can quickly add up to quite a lot… -
