This looks fantastic, and super useful. I have been hoping for a Mudbox realtime shader doing just that, in order to check for surface continuity (as a full heatmap, rahter than red>black>green tho) This however looks great as a base map to bake! Mop, did you manage to bake this to texture successfully ?
Yuh, my UV map could have been better, I noticed it too, so I might redo all my texturing in my Portfolio class. The brown is not skin, it's armor, I guess I just made it a little too close to the color of her hair. And yus, it's realtime viewport
Jox, where did you find that? I have3 been looking for the exact same thing, a complete recording of FFXII being played, including cinematics (CG and realtime) and maybe also the important fight intros and moves. Does this exist somewhere? I just can't play this game, but want to see more of it.
The Skin Wrap modifier could be interesting, too. If you used Skin to bind your mesh you could even transform the Skin Wrap to a Skin modifier if you need it for realtime-purposes. Never tried this, though, since I still use Physique. But I will have a look at skin as soon as possible.
Yeah, but i mean classic 3d hobbyism. As in, making models and still renders or animations. Not gamedev, which is hugely popular. Hence i now feel that stills are niche compared to realtime. ...and personally i prefer Quake 1 modding scene, which still amazes me :D (check out Arcane Dimensions or func_mapjam series).
yeah if you scale down the scene objects then in blender vr addon, it works fine ie you are a giant in a tiny house, but in 360 images the only way seems to be to zoom out, but in a small room, you can only zoom out so far there seems to be more freedom in vr with realtime not pre rendered
I've made some more progress and gone back to add some more wear and grunge to the model. Not sure if I'm a 100% happy with it yet but I think it looks better than before. I also put it into unreal to render it in realtime since I was using cycles which slowed progress down with rendering.
I'm gathering some info about wording, workflows and general discussions from many of the leading vfx artists in the industry. I haven't updated it for a while but I will. :P It's here: http://tech-artists.org/forum/showthread.php?3589-The-Realtime-VFX-Dictionary Also, PopcornFX is starting to look interesting.…
Hey cool I hope to see a lot more of these then. :) I personally think it could use some uniqueness in the texture whether that is a better tileable, procedurals, hand painting. And I would get it in a realtime engine, because if I am not mistaken you are rendering out of your native 3d package? Keep it rolling!
ok. i just saw this video, and im feelin better about it all. lol. realtime slowdowns for big hits! coool. though, if there are lots of guys, that might get annoying after a while. either way, ill be picking this up FOR SURE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uR9Ycp8TJFk&feature=player_detailpage#t=57s
