Thx Mac. Yeah I was creating it in zbrush in 2.5D. I messed up the original ztool and didnt tilt it to create that nice overlap im missing. I'll also add some geometry in there and distort the roof so its not perfectly flat like you said.
So here's the thing with zbrush: it's designed like a painting program. It's an Image Document. The 'document' is essentially a 2d document that is made out of pixels, just like photoshop documents (zbrush even exports the document as a .psd file). The difference is that each of these document pixels can also store…
There is a huge market for this. If its a 2D game or a 2.5D game you can directly translate the flash animation into cards that can be used. It would also be very easy to use something like this for a stylized 3D game. The industry is begging for more VFX artists right now.
Awesome remake... Top knotch artwork/gameplay/sound. 2.5D looks spectacular. Love the menu design. A few different versions of the hacking mini-games would have been great. Pretty difficult overall....Last few levels!!... uggg. Human shields for the win.
Again, it's simply a matter of spending one minute to read into the difference between tools and the document, and why both exist. Once you accept that you're looking at a canvas, seeing models as tools makes perfect sense. 2.5d hasn't hindered zbrush's UI or what its capable of.
You know what else would be a sick. An easier way to do tile-ables. Let use all our brushes for 2.5 mode, and let us pop out back to regular 3D mode and then back to 2.5D. Oh man. IMAGINE. JUST FUCKING IMAGINE.
Are you modelling in 3D, or drawing in 2D? If it's in 3D, it might be interesting to show from each of the 4 directions, hiding various wall segments as the viewpoint changes. A bit complicated, but it really would have been a nice feature back when 2.5D dungeon crawlers were popular...
We're looking for a 2D/3D Artist to work on our first game, an art-forward mobile game already in development. This is a great opportunity to hone your craft working with a AAA game industry veteran credited on such titles as *BioShock, The Rick and Morty VR Game, Halo*, and *Doom*. This is a fully remote position- work…
Just a little note, but when you're aiming for a seamless texture, you don't have to give each brick UVs and a normal map. You can take the detail and normal map information straight from the 2.5D document. http://www.pixologic.com/zclassroom/homeroom/lesson/environment-with-tate-mosesian/
ZacD, thanks! tristamus, I created the wave pattern by using a simple maya polyplane in the background. I placed it in the document and then painted waves using the 2.5d simple brush. I used ~ to offset the image. Then I placed each coin individually on the sculpted plane, a litte imbed and facedown.
