Main differences between 801 and 901 for game art: * 801 doesn't have Mikktspace built in * 801 has the old viewport with less flexible shaders * 801 has no built-in Mikktspace so you can't bake a Mikktspace tangent normal map in Modo; you have to bake world-space and convert it with xNormal * 801 doesn't include…
miauu's Script Pack vol.2 version 5.7 is available. Changelog: -- Show Used Scene Units now can store the current Units and Home Grid Settings and can load them on demand. Video demonstration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilbEQNpbMSM
Update: I've added more models and more variations to the pack. The pack now also has a specific ceiling kit and some models that operate on a smaller grid. I also added two new color scemes to the pack. Some screenshots of my progress:
This is my first attempt at modular modeling. The model was made with reference of a cafe in Malmö called Gökboet. Diffuse was made primarily from photos of the actual building but also from other sites. Some geometry is altered to fit into a nice grid system. Here's the reference.
Oh wow nice! I'm going to try that out right now. Update: Neox's grid just solved one of my problems almost instantly. The circles combined with the granularity do provide a scale of feedback that the checkers simply weren't. Thanks a bunch dude!
If you changed the mesh scale it might be off screen. Press one of the blue buttons in the top left corner; that sets camera to view object I think. You can also toggle show grid/stars, snap light to camera and other options on the side.
You can do it with whatever you like, brushes or by making it in max/maya on the grid and then sending it to UDK. UDK can also export your level to FBX, so if you make it using brushes and want to fine tune, you can use that method also.
Hey, That was a little tricky. I think because hex patterns don't line up with square grids like the tile generator. I had to compensate by stretching the pattern shape a little. and making the tile generator XY amount 7 by 6 and vertical offset of 0.5
Two other options that come to mind:* Radial Symmetry can also make quick work out of this. * If the basemesh was made out of a sphere that ends with a pole, then the topology should already be in the basic grid pattern. Zmodeling can give every face a nice extrusion for the bumps.
very nice work :) For the bricks, I suggest some white cement in between them sometimes.Making parts with the joints lighter, like erasing them a little would break that grid patern to get something nice. The gloss is a bit strong too. Looks like they are painted.
