Hello Polycounters, my name is Alex and I love 3D art but I didn't knew about the Polycount forum and Artstation till beginning of this year. Also I didn't had the chance to create my portfolio. But here it is with some of my latest projects: https://www.artstation.com/artist/alexmartina I'm still working on some projects…
Hi everyone! I'm new to polycount and have about a year and half of experience in 3D modeling. I'm currently studying to be a game artist and so far I'm enjoying the journey and hope to continue my growth. One of my professors recommended Polycount as a great place to show my work, so here I am Any feedback is greatly…
I actually think that would be a bad idea. I think that a polycount focused challenge should be hosted in some way here on polycount to direct people here and contribute to the forum rather than away towards facebook. It is far too easy to just give a thumbs up and leave it at that on facebook. Even if it's just for…
Welcome to Polycount :) Softimage Mod Tool is another good free 3d app to start with. Oh and Wings3D is supposed to be a pretty good modeler, it's free as well, though I haven't tried it personally. The built in search function here on Polycount isn't too hot, I like to use Google Site Search instead.
No one has commented on this, and without sounding like I have a chip on my shoulder I'll say this: Polycount - that is, the people who make up the community - pride themselves on seeing other people develop as videogame artists. Polycount is awesome for art pimpage, but I'm wondering if anyone knows any good forums for the overall process of indie development? A Google search came up with these three seeming to be fairly populated. http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php http://forums.indiegamer.com/ http://www.indiedb.com/forum Are there any more…
That is indeed the low poly. However I haven't optimized at all yet. I have not deleted any of the face beneath the armor. Just haven't had the time. The polycount will be cut down for sure. The polycount also includes both the Katana and the Wakizashi, which aren't quite part of the character.
@TannedBatman Welcome to Polycount! In the future please put the name of the program in your subject line. Experienced users want to share their knowledge, so make it easy for them find your thread. http://polycount.com/discussion/63361/information-about-polycount-new-member-introductions/p1#use
Source 1 was my first adventure into 3d modeling and modding. I found polycount looking for hl1 and quake 2 models xD, and then i found the forum section .... omg XD All of this is just making me feel all nostalgic about the old polycount website and COLDFUSION!!!
