Not really related to the OP but Eric you might have some success feeding the Shader a fixed vector rather than camera position etc. And then rendering to texture. Failing that you can do the same sort of thing in substance designer if you're willing to dig into the pixel processor a bit
Nice! That Perna guys, his something, isn't he? I would love if someone could super-size-boost Eric's script so that it does the math for you automatically with the real Vert/Tri formula, oh lordy, that would be insane and so much more confidence boosting.
The flow of experience and ideas here is amazing. Especially Eric Chadwick and KarlWrang , thanks for the sources people. I am really getting an idea of what is what at this point. Thanks a lot people. Meanwhile, is there anyone here on Polycount that works with that kind of outsourcing studio ? Some insight would be great.
Hey Eric! Adjusting shadow bias seems to be exactly what I've been looking for! The result is great so far! I'm a complete noob for not having found that myself lol. Unless this causes any problems for any other shadows in the scene this should be the right solution. Thanks a ton!
So I finally ended up just using grabviewport with the safe box opened with it set to 800x600 and manually cropped out the excess... worked out cause it kept the words away from the safe box, but still not as smooth as I'd like :P Thanks again for the help Eric!
I think it would be great if we had some web based tutorial writing/publishing software so we hosted rather just just linking to tutorials. Don't get me wrong Eric is doing a great job! But he can't control content on other sites.
@ Bidendum - speculars are complex indeed! @Eric - sighs...cuz im lazy to take them out! lol. Sometimes i take them out, sometimesi dont. For the most part if im done with a texture that is the last thing i do. So..what do you guys thnk of this?
Eric: Yep, that's exactly why I love it. More cool stuff, less fluff to sift through. Wouldn't have it any other way! I'm pretty sure the professional to amateur ratio here is better than a lot of digital art forums... and that's a good thing in my book!
Thanks Eric :) for some reason I actually never notice this - very useful as usual - last post, and it's too bad since I ran into the same problem recently :p thx a lot I haven't been updating all this for a while, I should clean it up a little :)
I have no idea which kind of error dolemite was referring to when he said "creases". It could be either what i said, or what linderholm said. If its the latter, CHECK THIS OUT http://www.svartberg.com/tutorials/article_normalmaps/normalmaps.html polycount wiki <3 three cheers for eric!
