it's in free beta right now, but is it completely free? Are there strings attached (like making X from sales requires a license) or some jazz like that? I haven't examined all the fine print.
I figured it'd be nice to have a thread just to talk about the contest. Discuss ideas, share possible concepts and reference materials you aren't using, etc. If you have questions about the terms, use the QA thread. Don't use this to pimp your thread, but feel free to link other threads if it's relevant. Also don't post…
Every so often I find myself copying the X, Y or Z coordinates for certain edges/vertices and then selecting other edges/vertices and then pasting the copied coordinates into the field. For example this sometimes happens when I create a separate object and I want the bottom faces to be sitting on top of the top faces of an…
Hey guys we worked on a new feature for our SSAA tool which you can use to make really nice screenshots in Unity The cool thing is that you can work as usual on your scene in a small Unity workspace window, but take a screenshot in the size and format you want any time. So you could be working in 550 x 550 and then make a…
This might be a lot easier to understand if you could see the video tutorial I'm following, but it's a paid one so bare with my description alongside my texture screens. I used Nanomesh to lay out my leaves, sticks, and rocks. Then I went in manually to adjust any inter-lapping. So, onto the tiling portion. In said video…
Let me preface this by saying I know that most questions along the lines of “how much does X cost?” or “how much should I charge for X?” can usually be answered “it depends...” Nonetheless, I’m in situation where I need to figure out a budget for putting together a team, and I’m struggling to figure out how much various…
Hey Mike, must the final submission be 1920 x 1080 horizontal? I'm creating a character and I would like to do a vertical composition (1080x1920) but I don't know if it's against the rules. Thanks!
Nope. Alt-x is all or nothing. But you can use a shader to do a better effect, if you like. For example fresnel is a great technique (more solid on sides of model, more transparent in the middle).
Dear Sarah, I want to give you a suggestion which is not related to your art, which will grow and evolve as your career. Just be confident about this. You're on your path, it's happening. You're an artist. It doesn't matter if it's your first step. You have a spark in your work. Follow that. As for the advice, always…
Lightmaps in Unreal store all lighting and shadow information in a RGB format so you get full color lighting and shadows. If you want to go with a full dynamic lighting solution you could use Crytek's Sandbox editor rather than UDK. Check out the Crysis Sandbox Editor - MASTER THREAD on how to get it for free, and my post…
