One way to do it is to enable RGB while sculpting and change the colour for different rocks/groups of rocks. Then you can use the Polygroups from Polypaint feature. Another way is using inserts(with a negative imbed) and dynamesh will preserve the groups. Hopefully there will be a auto-masking feature for VDM brushes -… -

I'm just curious to know if anyone on this forum knows how to setup a decent material that enables the painterly style effect with normal maps and works with lighting? since right now whenever I try it most of my materials come out looking plastic... is there a tutorial or anything that anyone can recommend? I had this problem with Maya 2011 and switching to OS native solved the problem. But as you say you already tried this. Apparently, if you have a floppy disk drive enabled (even if you don't have one) it could slow down the file dialog. Not sure if that is true for Maya 2014. But worth seeing if that is the case. -

So, as handsandwich reference, it appears that someone enabled the 'email on reply' feature, but there is no user option to disable it. I understand some people may want the emails, but I honestly don't want that many emails. It should probably get turned off, until there is an user option to change it. I couldn't find… -

If you're having problems with a perspective view, post a shot of your perspective view enabled along with your Draw palette settings. 'Camera Angle of View' and 'Align to Object' can both have a big effect on the result and should be toyed with. You should be able to find a setting that feels right regardless of it being… -

@OtrickP Thanks for the compliment :) I can see the few areas now. I only added s few quick omni lights and enabled viewport rendering within max to quickly get off a few screengrabs to post. I'll have the turret done soon(tomorrow hopefully) and I'll clean up the blending. -
Re: reflections in marmoset?
I place a cube in Marmoset. The diffuse is pure black, the specular is pure white and the alpha within the spec (the gloss map) is also pure white. Together they give my mesh a chrome surface but regardless, I do not have any reflections. I even tried enabling the skybox, thinking reflections were linked to that? -

If by 'polypaint enabled' you mean "rgb", then yep it's on. Usually I'd hit new texture>create from polypaint after the projection, but for troubleshooting purposes I created a blank texture beforehand to no effect. @Warheart- Maya derivatives are not enabled by default. @Stradigos- You said you tried checking Maya derivatives and it didn't work, but I went ahead and did a mockup of what my problem was and how checking maya derivatives fixed it. Also make sure that your actual geometry normals aren't flipped on one side.
