Hi all, while working on a new scene (first time i'm really focusing on outdoors) i've hit a snag in terms of sky and clouds. Now i got the sky part of my problem solved, i'm still having trouble making clouds look believable. At first i was thinking of just making a smaller semi sphere and slap on a repeating cloud alpha…
Does anyone have advice on creating clouds that appear volumetric with the use of polygonal planes and 2D textures? I've found loads of cloud techniques using particle and fluids but I'm looking for a way to create clouds without those.
I have 3ds max 2016 (with sp2 i think). And i have imported a rcs point cloud. Im trying to build geometry on the point cloud and for that i need to snap to the point in the point cloud, but it doesnt work. It ignores the snap. I tried what i could but it doesnt snap to the point cloud points. Sometimes (1 out of 20 tries)…
By perspective they might have meant, locked like a side scroller or RTS. Or moving around and thru the smoke like a flight sim or first person shooter. Since you are asking for VOLUMETRIC clouds I'm a bit confused since thats not really an artist thing? From my experience with smoke there are a few ways to do it and most…
hey iam trying to make constant clouds , i followed this tutorial http://forums.epicgames.com/threads/756920-Clouds-using-Particle-System but they vanish after a while and i need them to be there all the time if you have another idea of how to make them thats welcome to please keep in mind iam kinda new to UdK so i dont…
I know cloud rendering sites like these are getting bigger now: http://www.rayvision.com/en/main.php https://www.rebusfarm.net/en/ but I'm wondering, Instead of having to invest like 20 - 30 thousand dollars for a workstation that can render as fast as I'd like to with vray/renderman/mentalray to create my initial frame /…
Well if you already use particles for the close-up clouds and this will be the distance you have (like fly-by with airplane) then the simplest solution would be several planes with cloud texture and alphas on it to fake the clouds. You could even animate those planes a little bit to create some faked cloud movement. Could…
it looks like you need only a round brush with hard edge and one with soft edge. first i would draw the white form of the cloud, then add light blue half circles with the soft edged brush in the lower area of the cloud (big brush is better). Better to use a mask for the white cloud, so you can't go over the edge with the…
I am currently working on a sky for a considerably old game engine and I am wondering how I would approach making some nice 3d looking clouds for it? The game engine is from halo 1and does not support particles for the sky. Currently the sky is just a scaled down sphere with a bunch of textures scrolling across it with the…
This depends heavily on the size of the point cloud. Best would be a point cloud asset for unity https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/?gclid=CLPNtYTb_sgCFRSeGwodCVAIHA#!/search/page=1/sortby=relevance/query=point&cloud Because you want colored dot-like billboards for each point or the VR tour will look a bit strange. It's…
