Welcome to Polycount! Did you know you can embed images directly here on the forum? You can use the URLs from Imgur, or you can just drag-and-drop them directly into the post editor. It's generally better to embed images, than to ask people to open a link to see things. Less steps for people, and if you remove friction you…

You can also use UVed and displaced geometry in Zbrush as a base then dynamesh and clean up afterward to avoid sculpting everything (although for a hero prop you'd probably end up sculpting over everything anyway...)
If you want to show props in your portfolio but focus on characters why not add those into the context of your characters? Like you mention the mod guy should be on a bike... so where is that bike? Right now he's just sort of floating/jumping and shouting. Same thing with the rocker character. Adding in something that…
Hi! I think you can solve a lot early by doing some sketches before jumping into 3d. Once you're in the process of modelling, you can take a screenshot at any time and manipulate it, or draw on top, to explore different options. Drawing lines in on references, might help you understand their proportions and placement of…
I'm not a rigger nor animator for chars however fwiw I've limited experience with hard surface mechanical stuff so just a few options that may be helpful: 1 - Mesh bends or deforms in unexpected ways when you move the bone Check Bone Weights: ensure vertices are properly weighted to the bones that should control them Use…

It's been one of those weeks. But I did manage to get a bit more progress made. I'm still procrastinating the torso, so I've been working on the legs. I'm sure having an actual arse and hips, when I finish them, will make the torso easier to judge. There's a lot of small inaccuracies I want to fix. I've been mainly using…
I had my computer go down for maintenance nearly every other month last year. Turns out a RAM stick was bad. And the GPU VRAM was also glitching. And a HD started to fail while another imploded. The mobo is also suspicious. Wonderful times. After RMAs and tweaking to stabilize it so it could limp ahead for a little longer…
@polysteve good start! I understand the temptation to jump into the prompts before nailing down the composition but you are doing it backwards. First settle on a composition. Have a point of view. Have a focal point. Than define the lighting. And then work on the props. Prop artist is hardly a position anymore and it's all…
