Hello i know it is possible to get quite pretty human head scan (using camera, photogrammetry) with only one DSLR camera, when the subject is still, and the lighting is good and you move quickly (not using a tripod) you can shoot around 20-40 photos and the scans i have seen look quite really good. The problem is: How many…

I don't have Maya around but for future reference - Last time I had to use it the depth peeling setting was unbearably slow on a production mesh (40k+ triangles in hair cards) and produced black pockmarks all over the geometry - is that expected behaviour? Also how do you get to use alpha test with hair cards in Maya…
@Wonkey - I will be revisiting this piece again due to the overwhelming feedback regarding the poly counts. I will be creating LODS, most likely 40K and 20k, as i agree that the poly counts are unrealistic, alot of the details i have modelled in can easily replace with normal maps. @Killnpc - Thanks dude! @ Snader - Great…
personally i'd go for the 660ti. the 400 and 500 series cards used the same chipsets and had issues: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=79527&highlight=fermi&page=2 unconfirmed as to whether they truly fixed the issues or not. for gaming the 560TI is great (my kid has one in his machine, can run just about…
@polymator Thanks man! Shooting pretty high with this one. I use to always keep my characters around 30-40k tris but recently I've been slowly getting request to work with higher resolution meshes so I decided to really not limit myself too much when it come to polycount on this one. I'm trying to keep this around 80-90k…
Hi can you guys recommend or tell me what monitors you are using. I want one the is 27-28" good with games and watching movies (1-3 meters awayfrom screen). Doesnt need to be top of the line image qualty but good enough for modelling and texturing. As I said, was dead set on the dell ultrasharp 27", found refurbished ones…
IIRC when Luxology was developing Modo 501 (or was it 401?) they mentioned that Autodesk's FBX SDK sucked pretty badly. Perhaps this problem could be solved by creating .blend importers/exporters for other 3d apps. Doesn't Unity already have a .blend importer? Sure it would be a fragmented mess, but probably not much more…
