@Hawkseye - The staff is fine. Winged staves with some manner of glowing business in the center are nothing new. It's not nearly close enough to Riot's item to warrant anxiety. There are other winged staves in Dota 2, and even submitted for Skywrath mage. I would be more concerned with redundancy than plagiarism. The wolf…
I also had some Dota 2 concepts too: This little dude is some kind of raptor/lynx hybrid with wings (I think it's cute): And with a possible pattern: I also had an idea for a Windranger bow, based on Eul's Scepter: This is where I am right now: highpoly mesh done, LOD meshes are also done, but I have no idea how to sculpt…
Nosgoth is great fun, I think I've already spent at least $50 on the game simply because the game is so well made in every aspect. It is probably the best example of a F2P game done right, right next to other titles like TF2 or Dota 2. I've played the Dirty Bomb closed beta several times which is also being published by…
I'm working on this Specter weapon which has a lot of smooth curves and I couldn't figure out how to fit all those smooth edges in 300 tris, so I decided to use custom alpha in some parts, but apparently almighty specter doesn't support alpha channels (no only for weapon but for all the slots). Just to make sure that I'm…
I would like somebody to help me make an object acceptable for dota 2. Whoever wants to help me, please message me. I have concept down. Currently I think I know how to do some concept work and model, but judging from others, I'm not very good. Since I cannot guarantee the success of my project, I put this under unpaid…
Hello everyone! Just submitted my first item for Dota 2. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=583382048 It is a helmet/mask for Riki. Had loads of fun doing it. Coming from a different CG background, nearly a decade wokring in film/tv production, so this was my first "foray" into a game asset creation. It…
Hey Guys, I am working on an item for Dota 2 and I have run into some issues With experimentation i have solved most of the issues in the bake except for the one I have the biggest issue with: The pinching near the 'tip' of the sword. I have tried varying the topology and I have tried separating the blade into a range of…
Does anyone have any recommended reading on some processes and working methods for creating decals / sprites that would be used for explosives damage, bullet holes, creators etc I thought this would be quite a common thing but spending some time on google not much is really cropping up. I've always worked in fairy large…
i've been making player studio stuff for planet side since it started. its a way to make a little bit of cash ,not even a fraction of what i hear the dota an tf2 folk are making, but its a lower bar and higher chance of acceptance. Its not super fulfilling artistically since you can not bake normal's or even really texture…
a lot of people dont think about texturing the way they should. you have to remember its still a piece of art. I think what your actually looking for is illustration theory. such as composition, color theory, level of detail and focal points. treat it like its a 2D illustration, and look for information on those things…
