I actually like the way your site is set up. Once you get some more models using modern tech on there then you should have yourself a pretty well-rounded portfolio. Judging from the models you already have, I expect your higher res stuff to be great too. Perhaps it would be nice to see you diversify in content a bit. Most…
Ubisoft isn't big because of Splinter Cell and Rainbow 6. 'Just Dance 3' is very handily Selling Assassins Creed by almost double, and probably cost $$1/10 to make. THQ delivers on a few of the AAA, but they haven't diversified their portfolio to minimize risk.
I love Silo to death but I found it after having spent a few years noodling with Maya, and I think that there's something to be said for wrestling with a complicated interface for a while first. If you start with Silo you might take its interface for granted and be totally blindsided and discouraged when you start to…
But this is entirely the point - they invested heavily in new franchises and they all sold well below expectation. I'm no EA apologist, but they have to be given some credit for trying to diversify in recent years. Mirror's Edge, Spore, Skate, Dead Space etc. were all really good games with innovative and/or ambitious…
I kind of like the concepts of most of your models, they all follow a similar style. Unfortunately, most of them feel unfinished. I might go with a little diversety too, maybe try throwing in some objects?
And about the iphone do not separate the uvs... As they said you can cut but keep connected the uvs together... or the number of vertex will be not cute here :) You can see an example I done with Unity here about the UVS//vertex number conflict : http://samavan.com/divershelp/Test_TriangleStrip_Cube_A001.jpg And here…
Awesome. If I could find some guys interested in a game I would love to give this a try but I'm only a character artist and can't code or animate etc lol I need to diversify a little :P
I just tried your tips but nothing really works... I tried with a locator and a cube and but same result... If you want to check my attempt : http://samavan.com/divershelp/_Leg_Test_A.mb (Maya 2008 ) I'm sorry I cannot save it with *.ma, it doesn't work on my Vista >_<
Lot's of good points. My unified theory is: 1. Demise of the unified gaming community. Once upon a time everybody played the same game. Think about it. Quake (in my mind) started the custom skin hobby. During clan play, folks wanted to play with clan skins that were custom to them. Quake 2 gave us the custom player model.…
