Since you are bringing up Mari and projection painting it sounds like you are simply looking for a 3D texture painter? I too was in early on the SP train when it first went publicly available but it never felt right for what I do (was more like a tool for masking pre-made materials, not very artsy) and the procedural…
[ame] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnDrg7Tt3Vw[/ame] Okay, I finally got a chance for an update on this one. I made a few changes to improve shape language, since I kind of want to view it as an animator and step through each frame to see if all the elements work together. A few notes I see already is that the core…
You can create materials from photos using Mixer currently. Try adding a mask stack to a layer and then use the three-lined menu right above the mask stack to use the Smart Mask/Material system.
Wrapped up Inktober 2017 with a plague doctor's mask, based on the "mask" prompt. Probably could've gotten more detail into the mask itself, particularly leather stitching, but I gave myself a strict hour limit today.
Thanks for the reply! Still having an issue however.. The mask seems to only apply to the subdermis scatter attribute. The normal smoothing/shadow blur/occlusion blur etc. seem to still be affecting the masked out portion of the mask.
i would assume that you need to make a RGB mask that follows specific guidelines for materials. (i.e. all blue parts of the color mask were metals). then it reads that and generates the different types of materials based on the colors of the mask?
I met someone at PAX who is part of a local team who are working a non funded indie game development studio. Anyhow the guy liked my zbrush work (yea, yea I know the bar is lowered when its non paying so I know my portfolio doesnt have enough in it to be up to hireable yet). They claim to be almost finished with their…
I've often found it is easier to keep stuff heavily separated out so you can tweak or re-purpose bits. My typical PSD layouts are more like material compositing and less like painting, they might look something like this (these names are layer groups, with a layer mask on each group):diffuse dirt mud moist dry soot decals…
At 1st I was too annoyed that it's not realtime 3D painting...But after using Mari for a couple of weeks (been lucky enough to beta test drive 2.0 it at my new job) it just blows everything else out of the water. I love mudbox, I really do love it...But compared to the layers / adjustment layers / layer groups=, adjustment…
Yes, I use this way - there's no other choice actually. Then I rebuild lower subd levels But it's a really ea Masking doesn't work. Tried to mask highest level. Tried to mask lowes - neither helps to preserve details.
