All the methods listed are good. One more you may want to try, depending on what you're trying to accomplish, is using the material override setting in the processing tab of the mental ray renderer. This will apply one material to every object in the scene for the purposes of rendering.
Hey mate, check out NDo2. It's free for 30 days, I use it for everything almost, I hardly touch Zbrush anymore. As for baking normals in xnormals have you tried calculating the ray cast distance? This will increase the accuracy of the map hugely in some cases.
Well why not just use multiple planes to start with? Lay out the uv islands so they don't touch. And bake at a high enough res to get the sizes you need. Set your ray distance to 0 if you really want 2d cross sections.
hi guys. setting "Production" quality in mental ray globals may help solve this problem. and also setting final gather quality to 2 in bake set override options. it helped me to solve similar problem in maya 2013. hope it helps you too.
If I was resident I'd sign it. Imagine you're Christian in a time where being so wasn't such a good idea. There is nothing wrong with your faith, but for some reason there is a law against it. You believe with all your heart in your faith, but live in fear that one day something will happen to you because of it. So you…
Light baking was supported in Toolbag 3. Unfortunately, there were fundamental changes to the ray tracing backend in Toolbag 4 that made it no longer possible to support. This is something that we may be able to add back in the future, however, R&D will be required and we do not have an ETA at this time.
I would rather not, but we are in a pinch. I need a elemental skinned for our mod, Battletech : Mobile Infantry. Here is a link to a pic that is about what we are looking for the skin to look like: http://www.cdmag.com/articles/030/006/shot9.html (not a elemental, but a good idea of what we want) We are looking for a high…
Hello, I'm a generalist/tech artist with industry experience who's been putting together a prototype in my spare time these past 8 months; a dark souls style prototype boss fight with arena and lead up, and am in the home stretch for finishing it off and seeing whether it is worth trying to pitch/get funding or to keep as…
I'm looking to replace my desk chair that I bought for 4 pints off a friend a year back. Was wondering what the community had to say in regards to their favorite desk chair for modeling all day. Do you have just a general chair or does it have neck support? I was hoping to not spend more than $200 or so which makes things…
Inspired by Askhat I decided to open a sketchbook in here and do some movies frame studies hoping I'll improve my painting in general since I'm a little bit rusty right now. Not much to say right now apart from the fact that I hope I'll be able to do 2 studies a day and see how it goes... PS: MAV SEZ HAI TO #MD GAIS (and…
