Aha, I assume you rendered in marmoset which is what threw me off. I should probably learn to read. Handle looks much better. Now just connect the handle area to the front and you are good to go! It doesn't have to be just a pure subd connection, maybe just some mechanical way of them connecting.

I have also retopologised her now and so now her base hair, face-framing tentacles and ears are connected to her body mesh! The tentacle ponytail has 3 different tentacles depending on the layering.
Thanks everyone... I just found the problem and it was vertices not connected. Once I connected the vertices, swiftloop worked. Rookie mistake, but at least there are people like you guys to help me out.

since he said "just don't connect" I guess you could take it as barely not connecting hence a single 0 in the middle, still no clue what the second and fourth number would be
@Revel, select 2 vertices and use "connect" (and bind the connect function to a key, time saver :q ). You can also use the cut tool at your own risk (it's not always precise)
