As for the process - Photogrammetry has changed a lot since I did this project - here is how I did it back then, and how it could be done now - First off, the camera and lens - with photogrammetry (even current) it is best to use a decent dSLR with a FIXED lens. If anything changes in the lens, then the absolute center of…
Interesting thread! I believe that to some extent, the attitude of a given bindpose sometimes appears in the final animated model. Yet when done wrong, 'posed' bindposes can bite you in the back - like overly bended knees. I personally enjoy a 45 degrees down arm position, but a straight T is not that annoying IF the…
[ QUOTE ] But is this tool really faster than manually removing edgeloops? [/ QUOTE ] That assumes that you've modeled the character (or whatever) using proper edgeloops to begin with. Plus, you could say the same thing about the Silo topology brush. I think the point is that some poeple like to model without worrying…
IMO Substance Designer specifically is getting a certain decline for a few years already. It turned into a kind of sport to boast more than actually useful tool. In a company I work for it's basically me and one more guy who sometimes use it too. Nobody else. And I am constantly looking for alternatives to get rid of it…
Some are a bit old, or are bug reports that have been fixed already. Also I think I use the app a bit differently thatn then now. But still! Topogun1.3 notes-ALWAYS SAVE BEFORE HITTING THECTRL KEY !!!-NEVER CTRLSHIFT TO ADD SELECTION !!!-Load reference-Right click switches between move mode and creation mode-Viewport…
You're best off reading the docs World partition is designed primarily for handling large worlds (several km across) in games. You probably don't need it if you're planning to render out sequences but you may find it convenient to organise your work with the tools it provides. Personally, probably wouldn't bother
thanks guys. i had another go with the wire tool and had some success. the process is a bit slower than that maxscript but i seem to be able to do the same thing. so my process was - create sphere > select a few edges > convert edges to curves DELETE HISTORY ON CURVE (could prob rebuild the curve to contain only 3 CVs) >…
There's a couple things that Max have that seem essential to modelling that I can't seem to emulate in Maya. Does anybody know of plugins or work-arounds for this to work? I'm sorry if this is already up, I couldn't find it. Cut Tool - Yes we have the split polygon and interactive split tool, but I can't get either to work…
ahh cool, the axis align hotkey is almost perfect. It would be nice if you can align to any edge/vertex instead of requiring the vert to be in the same mesh. Similar to how snapping works. Its still very useful as it is either way :p I've actually hotkeyed all the tools I find most useful now so I can close the IC shape…
