Here is how it should look ideally This is with SS Raytracing (well also not perfect since its covering too much in shadow also) This SSRT does a very surprisingly good job tho on even the tiny details Here is more the cold reality of realtime lol with ao decals and mixed quality bakes Looks pretty crap in debug view But…
Why are you trying to render a realtime mesh with mentalRay? You should try to view it in DX view or a game engine. The flipped green channel is a mentalRay shader problem i think. At least in 3dsMax.
dont know about max, but for realtime hair, since you want cards, dont go looking for a hair plugin, go look for a dynamic feather plugin, there are a few for maya, this saves tons of time.
hmm if realtime is enough i would go with lumion.. https://lumion.com/showcase.html#prettyPhoto if you need giant terrains i would go with clarisse... https://www.isotropix.com/products/clarisse/digimatte-environments
Thanks a lot! Glad you like it so far. :) @Alex Pointer: It's rendered in realtime Marmoset right now, but I will take it into UDK or Cryengine once I have more of the tiles and props done. :)
Thx for commenting, i baked the light now so its allot better than the realtime shadow's, and yeah ill keep it in mind Meloncov for my next project. ;p thank u both.
you would be creating material which you earn money from, so yes it wouldn't be ok, kinda like someone made an animated movie, but because it's a video and not realtime it would make it ok.
From what I remember the Varga tutorial would work okay for a render, but not at all for realtime. If anything, start it out by modeling the hair like a regular object, and then gradually adjust and add alpha planes.
I need to not post stuff in the awesomeness thread anymore, no one said a thing when it was posted it in there :P Anyhow this isnt realtime, but it doesn't seem like anything that couldn't be achieved irt with current engines.
Checkout Animation Mentor and Ianimate, from memory their workshops extensively cover all facets involved but are a tad expensive however the trade off is the realtime instructor feedback or try Gnomon if all else fails.
