According to the blog post this update was done by the original pre-Autodesk Skymatter team. If that is the case, and they are back on mudbox, Zbrush better watch out. There is real demand in film and vfx for a more production friendly alternative to zbrush.
This is quite sad. Although I am a Maya and 3dsmax user, I feel the pain. shame on Autodesk. I was working at a VFX house that uses Softimage and Maya, They made the decision to switch to full Maya now.

It will be used with UnrealEngine for VFX. Creating normals ect will be done in Substance. I tried with curves which went like ****. Maybe deformers could do the job?
