Hi polycounters. I've been modelling for about a year now just for personal stuff to hammer down my techniques hoping to get a job in the industry at some point in the not to distant future. This is the first model I've ever submitted for public comment. It is of a mecha from an old cartoon series called the Macross Saga…
If you can pick up an Alienware a51m before they run out then do so. It's all desktop parts, slightly underclocked due to limited power . I'm using one with a 10900k and a 2070super as a workstation at the moment. It's handling the workload pretty well - I've been doing a lot of very large image and 3d data processing so…
I'm all for your view point, with their very inception trade unions collectivized aspirations for those chained too to either hammer, sickle, pick or shovel, finally giving voice too the masses thereby winning a place at the bargaining table. My country of birth was at the forefront of the unionist movement but with the…
I didn't know that the size of the gizmo changed it's precision in Maya, thought it was just how close you zoomed in that changed the incremental change. But in max pretty sure -/= just makes the gizmo a different size and doesn't affect precision of the numbers at all. I do know that from the spinners you can change the…
Thanks for the tips guys. I took a look at the Nimba FX website. The artist(s) there are amazing, this is just what I was looking for when I was looking for wounds. I gave my character couple gunshots in the chest the other day. Side note: I made the mistake of typing "gunshot wounds" into Google without safe search ... I…
Not bad! I think your lighting is looking a little flat. Especially near the embers, bring out the highlights. It would look really cool seeing the bottom part of the forge catching the light from the furnace. It'd be great to see some smaller detail as well. The face on the forge looks more like it's painted on instead of…
Jalcober: Thank you. Hope the risks we took pay off! Robbiek: Thank you. Andrew: Thank you very much, appreciate it. Here is the concept for the Omni set (Briefly seen in the video)..We ended up desaturating him to fit the art style more in the final product after some in game testing. The entire concept started off of a…
Yes, but since you didn't pay anything to sit down and watch that movie and somehow you're also riding a train while you're doing it, it's not that unreasonable for the usher to come in and ask you to pay a bit. Considering the fact that cost of a premium movie ticket, you could watch 20 movies in f2p theater. A more apt…
Yar the wood reads as leather. One reason would be that the wood grain doesn't show up in the normal. This could happen if the wood was polished, but then the final material should appear way more glossy and have a strong specular. Another reason is the way it interacts with the metal "ribs" at the bottom of the handle.…
Honestly these are really simple shapes and you could optimize and UV it from scratch in an hour, tops. Another option though is that there's the (imo pretty pricey) TurboReverse plugin for Max: http://www.mariussilaghi.com/products/turboreverse I got this a few years ago and it's great at what it does. Not only does it…
