chrisjngs - thanks for the breakdown! creamsodaser - I agree with JadeEyePanda using the grey clay mat cap will help. Marcus Aseth - to be honest no amount of watching tutorials will compare to just getting started. You just have to jump in, watch tutorials to see what techniques will help you. I usually skim through them…
@JadeEyePanda Thanks for the advice, I know that working on something for a long time will make one blind to things that might be wrong with it, but after you pointed out the neck muscle and the head, I could clearly see that it wasn't right. @smessier Haha, I also noticed new users of a software tend to gravitate to…
Hey ya JadeEyePanda, haha this is definitely just a sculpt. I don't have much experience making game models, I'm thinking of making Baiken from Guilty Gear after this piece and having that as a game model. If someone gave me something like this and said now rig it and animate it, I'd probably kill them. Right now I'm…
Hey ya JadeEyePanda, I didn't dynamesh too many items I orignally thought I would have to so it would be seamless but the 3D Printer had no problem printing intersecting geo. I decimated at the end to bring down the polycount I think in the end I came in at about 800k. I split the model up in the pieces in Maya. The splits…
Hi-ho friends, Some quick progress from before. Continuing work on the overall shapes, feel like I'm slowly making my way through the concept. Though, everything still feels kind of 'packed in'. Keep the feedback coming though, it's a huge help. :D JadeEyePanda: I widened the shoulders a bit and seems to have helped some.…
Thanks guys. @ JadeEyePanda : haha don't ask me, My hair sucks ass, but sometimes the gods smile on me and it turns out ok. The only thing I can say is practice. @ indiePub : Thanks. Latest from me. Perhaps Santa will bring me some sorely needed life drawing classes, but either way as usual I polished this turd…
@JadeEyePanda: No concept art, unfortunately. I know its not great to figure stuff out on the go in 3d, but im not very good at painting my concepts. hopefully it'll turn out ok @iconoplast: He would see out of that narrow cylindrical slit on the front of his facemask. Its obviously too narrow to see out of well, Its…
@Cibo - Thanks for commenting! I've removed the extra pieces on the roof and that alone has saved around 500 polys! I'm going to have a look at the roof shape later on today too. =) @JadeEyePanda - Thanks very much for the guidance! I messed around with the colours a bit and have come up with this new update. I know that…
Hey, thanks JadeEyePanda! Thanks for your time and advices, honestly. I think I wrote bad the sentence or maybe you misunderstood me. My first reaction was "whoa Im not that pro" but what I was trying to say with that is I was surprised with the quality and level of the critics so it is a good thing. And even with that I…
Agreed with JadeEyePanda Drop down the sub divs, work on the planes of the face. Dont rush to that high poly so quick, I sometimes have the same issue. Her head is too lumpy, and her neck is too big. Focus on getting the skull just right, otherwise its going to show tremendously. Just keep doing it over and over and over…
