As i said to a friend. It seems like they are doing this "AAA Indie" thing to get a cool image (it is a cool concept after all) but it seems to be just like any other small studio. As far as i´ve heard they have an investor that gives them money (just not a publisher). Oh well. As long as it works for them. The game…
Impressive or not, the specs of a console generation set the benchmark for most PC development. If a studio is going to spend a AAA budget on a PC game they also want to make sure it runs on consoles. If it's PC only you want it to run on as many PC's as possible, that means aiming for pretty low hardware specs - once…
The thing I don't understand is the "McDonald's or nothing" philosophy. There's a segment of the middle-class that produces kids who are incredibly mentally lazy. If they can't get a job in AAA game development, they sit at home doing nothing for years then choose a dead end job in retail or fast food. Really sad to see…
Also if you look at the original Crysis (4.5 million sales w/ Warhead), Witcher 2, and Star Citizen, there is a demand for games that really push hardware. As long as you game is a step above the other AAA titles. PC gamers as always looking for the next game to benchmark their hardware on, that alone probably got Metro:…
It's uncanny valley but we're starting to cross it. Not gonna make it out of there if people don't push the technology and it's really impressive considering the studio (Super Massive) aren't really known for their AAA realism http://www.supermassivegames.com/games Though they did have Sony to back them up on this one.…
@Kevin Albers As terribly uninformed person do you know any good ways to do that, except dropbox or google drive? @AlecMoody @ZacD Some of my assets were made for major AAA project and publisher. As I know they need to approve renders. So publishing them without approval would put me in bad position.
Yeah, normally people aren't allowed to just show up (unless they're family/etc.) - even to drop off their resume. That's weird, intrusive and can even seem rude to people. Your best bet would be to call, or email them. Good luck! (Small local mobile studios =/= mid/large studio working on console or AAA title)
This. From the school I graduated from I think I can count on one hand how many alumni are actually in the industry that have graduated in the past 6 years (from that concentration). and only 2 of us are at AAA studios. so yes they are graduating a lot of people, but very few people who are actually at a level to be…
