i made the muscles a bit more obvious, i can always smooth it out later as long as they dont make him too large when im starting to put the cloth on him. Do you think i could start with the cloth ?
Thanks guys for all of your comments. I plan on fixing the cloths, I'm still tweaking the shader with only a diffuse map for now. Next couple days I plan on giving the clothing more love and adding his buzz hair cut.:\
Hey dude, you seem to be having a little bit of a difficult time with cloth, check this out. It goes through the process of creating believable folds, not to mention this site has some valuable brushes it offers! http://www.selwy.com/2009/zbrush-clothes-tutorial/
Vest and backpack are really nice. Cloth folds are tough. I use standard brush with a tighter focal shift and often times lazymouse. Get some reference together and take your time with them. Once you nail the cloth this will be a great piece.
This is why I personally think a lot of character artists need to take some fashion classes, or at least research clothing patterns. Clothing isn't seamless and the more you know how it goes together the better you can design it, model it, and unwrap it.
At the same time, I'm not a character artist, and this might not be acceptable, but why can't you just use the same normals from the front of the cloth and the invert the appropriate channel? If you mirror it at an appropriate seam on the cloth it shouldn't be a problem, right? Or am I wrong?
Clothing sketch... sofar.... I actually kinda like it... but then again... I never really make clothes for my "monsters" soooo I'm a little inexperienced Suggestions are very welcome a little suggestion sketch is even better BTW, he/they reside in the sewers
Good stuff. Good texture work. Using an alpha for is front cloth is really unnecessary though. The amount of tris it would cost to get that shape on his cloth would be way more efficient than alpha. You wouldn't even need much.
Hot damn this is turning out pretty cool. Legs are too straight, beef up the thighs a little. Chin is a little pointy, could be flattened out. personally, I liked the orange/white mix to the texture on the clothes better than the brown cloth.
I think you need to go back down a few subdivision levels and block out your forms better, everything is a bit lump and undefined atm. Your cloth could use some more love, check out some reference or tutorials on cloth sculpting tips.
