You can save a morph target and then use the morph brush to get the borders back at the lowest subdiv level.

If a game engine is your ultimate target, you'll have to make the materials in it. V-Ray doesn't translate directly.

How you handle it will depend on a number of different factors. What type of game is it intended for? What's the target platform?

Convert the texture to polypaint first. A morph target can clean up any geometry related projection issues.

Yeah maya's bridge is shit :/ Only way to avoid that double edge problem is extruding edges and target welding...

I think 172 is fine. Reducing it to 137 seems like busy work. Even if you're targeting mobile.
