So i have decided to use one of these environment as a background for an asset's showcase. It's an asset i worked on for the Artstation challenge "Untamed - When Animals Ruled the World" but didn't get the chance to finish it, so here i am resuming the work. This is a semi realistic approach to the concept (which is shown…
Hi there, about time I create a sketchbook here, and to start things off, I'd like to showcase my first and most recent 3D environment piece: More to be find at: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/D5NAne (from a concept of Tuomas Korpi: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/ww2b5) I took care of all aspects, C&C are welcome!
I sculpted my character -90 degrees rotated. Is there a way to use transpose at all sub tools at once I know you can merge visible and do it but the polycount while get to high to handle for my PC. Edit: posted this under 3D art showcase... Anyone know how to change it to technical talk?
Hi guys, recently I made my environment artist portfolio. Can you give me some critique? Maybe I need remove/add something? Or there is good piece that I need to showcase first? Right now I'm in process of making another environment and I plan to add a few more in my portfolio later. Thanks.
Hello everyone! My name is Danaos Christopoulos and I'm an aspiring 3D Character Artist. At the time of this post I've been into 3D Art for about 2 years. I'll start by posting my recent works and hope to fill this sketchbook with other works I'm proud off, showcasing my growth on the craft! Feedback and critiques are very…
Very nice work overall, also a great showcase of the capabilities of the Eevee viewport (it always impresses me how far its come). Though I think the trees leaves look very odd, they're all facing the same direction and kind of look like a cluster of blue beetles.
Not directly related to your question, but I think worth mentioning. Unless you're in a field that explicitly requires video to properly showcase your work (animation, rigging, VFX...), a showreel is probably doing you more harm than good. Stick to well-composed still images for your portfolio.
By all means, be harsh! Your bullet points were exactly the type of feedback that I needed. And looking at it, I don't think there's anything that I disagree with. As far as the models themselves, is the quality (rendering issues aside, as lighting is my bane) up to snuff? Are there things I should focus on showcasing?
Very nice work dmorrison81! How did you create the branch texture(TreeTopTexture) that you showcase on your portfolio? Did you do that all in photoshop or did you model it out and bake to a plane? If so is that the technique you used for all the plants and branches for the Uncharted game? Thanks!
Yeah you'd lose the highres gillie work, but having it will help you place the lowpoly planes. You can look at the highres gillie as a look-dev and use it for showcasing the highres suit, but to use it for the lowres normal-bake I don't think you will get a good result from it unfortunately.
