100 to 200k/year? Us? No. For a beginner (and again this really depends on where you are globally) you are going to be looking at 25-40k starting. *edit* I just realized you were asking about a 100 or 200 person sized company, not thousands of dollars. Well I hope my response helps anyways.
Hello, My goal for this was to create a low poly model game-ready asset. I have in total 4 408 tris in this model. Could I get feedback on my topology? Does this look of the texture looks good? What else could I do to make this project look better? Is 4k tris low enough? Overall what do I have to work on to improve?
Henry Ford proved that working 8 hours a day, five days a week is the most productive schedule. It's a solved problem even though many people would like to pretend it isn't. Also, if you have a family you can forget about putting in 70+ hour weeks. Unless you want your kids to hate you and your wife to say adios. Divorce…
Hmm right now i think it's not fully optimized yet. But it's still alpha ofcourse. A complete new engine so it's normal that it still needs some optimization. (especially this early). I use a i5-3570K with an hd7870oc and had no problems running it on max settings though full windowed mode (dual screens). CPU load was a…
Well most of my freelancing gigs came from people I knew in the industry. Almost none came from "cold calling". I personally charge for rework that is because the client changes their mind, or wasn't clear to begin with. I use an hourly rate for the reworks. I didn't register as anything, in the US I just filed as an…
In retrospect, there were several factors contributing to my struggle to establish myself in the gaming industry. I'd attribute it to a 60/40 split, with 60% of the responsibility lying with me and the remaining 40% on the gaming companies I had the "privilege" to work with. For those familiar with the Polycount community,…
kinetichaze > gauss > vrav I assume it has a sort of low gait, being so topheavy... she's just standing it up to get a look around. [22:39] Vrv: Not really sure what's in the forearms, actually [22:39] Vrv: Was thinking maybe some sort of plasma... wave [22:40] Vrv: Like, the forearm/claw gets engulfed in a sort of blue…
[ QUOTE ] I don't think what PfhorRunner linked will work, as it just converts 44-pin to 40-pin IDE. What I think you need is a converter to go from ATA on your hard drive to plain ol' IDE inside your computer. Something like this is my guess: [/ QUOTE ] ATA and IDE are synonymous. I think what you meant was Serial ATA,…
Thanks for the constructive critiques, I looked for a flat 2D look (now I think I was more influenced by Warhammer 40k artwork than Star Wars...), anyway I understand the points. Next project I'll focus on materials and photorealism of a little prop, so I should have the chance to show some progress on that points :)
GeoDav over at the UDK forums noted that my wear and tear on the assets look like bullet holes, id like to make sure everyone knows im aiming for a more 40k vibe, im not looking to add fantasy warhammer damage such as melee weapon / magic damage, these are meant to look like hefty bolter bullets or similar! =]
