I find the HSL range value isn't understandable compared to Photoshop. I work in Substance in parallel from Photoshop and I have to make a big mental gymnastics to report or match the values. (0/100%, -180/180° to Photoshop, 0/255, -0.5/0.5 to Substance)
Haha thanks! Im kind of embarrased to say this but theyre actually slightly tweaked photoshop actions based on these instagram clones: http://dbox.tumblr.com/post/5426249009/instagram-filters-as-photoshop-actions with some extra photoshopping on some of the images of course :poly136: Manhattan bridge by kwakkie, on Flickr
Answer is studio dependent there's no good answer to that question. I personnaly know all and use all. My favorite is mudbox for painting in junction with Photoshop/Quixel. Starting by deeply knowing uvs and photoshop is still the best answer to new comer. All studios do have photoshop.

Did you paint the mask in Photoshop directly or by using DynaMask? If you're hand-editing masks in Photoshop without using the Paint Mask in Photoshop feature of DynaMask, it will revert any changes you've made to what they were at the last time you pressed Accept Mask.
I just finished these two busts! Both were created in Maya, with the linework done in Substance Painter and final touch-ups in Photoshop. You can check out a full breakdown and explanation on my ArtStation! :)
a combo of bodypaint and photoshop is best, and if u got a decent graphics card u can use the 3d painting in photoshop CS4. in mudbox u can only paint on the 3d surface for now, but i'm hoping for next release u can paint on to the texture like in bodypaint or photoshop
Substance designer and substance painter replace Photoshop and the Quixel tools. You can completely texture something within them. So when you compare the two keep in mind that quixel's tools are a plugin for photoshop and you'll need photoshop licences for each person as well as the plugin.
