@Odow It was just kind of a stylistic choice I thought looked nice at the time. I was looking a lot at Super Mario Bros and Yoshi's Island and they tended to outline stuff a lot. I suppose when I don't outline other objects, you think it clashes? @Mime Dem leaves, so good. I don't think your color palette matches the theme…
Totally agree with the article - I love good FPS games, but gaming really is becoming repetitive. I can see how some can be fine with it, but I do miss the times where I could pick wildly different games in a row over a span of a few years. Remember when your collection was gradually growing with titles like Megaman X,…
Haha, I've never put much stock into anything Mark says. It's not his fault, anyone that far entrenched in the business aspect of gaming is going to be spouting that sort of BS. That's their job: makes self (and partners) look good, insult everyone else. It's a zero-sum game. Pacman was a gimmick game. Super Mario was a…
Hi! We're starting pre-production on a game at my company and I'm gathering some reference for attractive character lighting solutions. I have to say Mario Galaxy's soft diffused look with that bounced rim light was very appealing and would suit our game well, but I am interested in any standout lighting that has been…
Hey guys! A few of you might know me from the AWP Yellow Boy I was working on, well... that idea is scrapped. I think it isn't Sci-Fi-ish enough. So I decided to do a Space Marine Rifle Skin. The interesting part about the skin is that this Space Marine had an encounter with hostile Aliens, getting their blood on his gun…
And there it is. I used marmo for my portfolio when I got my job. /me shrug. If your potential employer freaked out that you used marmo I would worry more about them than your portfolio. It's a game engine, its' got legit as balls shaders, and its easy to setup. They should be trying to emulate them if anything.

Yeah, it not called the British Royale Army. They aren't 'Royal' because they are Cromwell's new model army that fought for parliament against the King and the loyalists in the civil war. We have the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Royal Airforce, but the army aren't. I think technically parliament and the Prime Minister can…
Right.. worked on the Spec and Gloss.. and gave it a quick shot in Marmo. (Not Marmo2.. my pc cant handle it.. yeah.. its so old.. it´s coal powered..) There´s some normal errors in Marmo, that arent in 3dsMax.. no idea whats wrong with that.. Think, i´ll pause on the Pod, once i´ve made some touch ups and then focus on…
This tutorial was a waste of my time and money and ill tell you why. 1) No turntable at the end, no render sequence at the end, just the same shot that you get in the promo image. He built the textures specifically for use with the arnold renderer, but didnt do any renders. Admits that hes not very good at using arnold.…
