For the practical section of my FYP at Staffordshire university I've been creating a character in Zbrush. I'm currently Polypainting the head and it would be great to get some advice from the community. It's based off this concept by michael kutsche Let me know what you guys think
I finished the sculpt and am now either looking at retopo for practice or polypainting... or, maybe both, yay! Can't say enough thanks for all the help i received here when asking about stylized hair creation =D
Finished up the Retopo on Joe's head and experimenting with the materials and texture in Substance and Marmoset. Joe on the left is just with default Polypaint and Joe on the right is the start of some way too shiny Substance Painter materials. Still need lots of tweaks.
Minor update. Added the mulch pits and the base polypaint colors for everything. But after seeing that interview with Kevin, I'm kind of bored with this thing already. Any ideas how I can spice it up a bit short of destroying chunks?
About the UVs, Dont worry, for the baking the High poly UVs are not nesesary, though, if you can make a nice UV for your low poly before you sculpt it you can enjoy of Baking and Polypainting your model with Zbrush.
Thanks a lot. @felipefrango Thanks. I used zbrush for this one. Rendered a lot of matcaps + 3 Ligths + Zdepth And composed all stuff in PS. @LRoy Nothing special. I usually use polypaint for skin and texture for eyebrows and lips
Spider Man - Miles Morales I've found a reference for this Spider Man design This is an armor sculpting study and polypainting, the free base mesh is not mine, but from rodesqa__ this is his arstation profile - https://www.artstation.com/rodesqa I like his stylized design.
So I've been starting the texturing part and so far have polypainted the Lifestealer (about 95% done, still need to add certain details) and so far I'm quite happy (maybe because I just upgraded to ZBrush 2018!):
Spent some time working more on Star-Lord's jacket. Applied surface noise with Noisemaker and a custom made alpha with UVs. Then went through and polypainted it as well. Still polishing a lot of this as I go through it so still a lot that needs to be done!
WIP 21a Beginning polypaint of the face. There's not that much explicit tutorial references for texturing black skin at initial blush. Doing what I can with existing photo references and instruction on where color zones are on people's faces. Definitely still looking for critiques!
