the brick textures on the lighthouse should definitely have been tiling textures. if you go up close to it, the textures will be blurry. even if youre using a 4096. one or two different tiling brick textures and then use a decal for the lettering.
I love that bridge, but as @Tokusei mentioned, the transition between wood and terrain is quite rough. You could try a decal that blends between the terrain material and an alpha - or maybe add the terrain material as a vertex-painted blend for the bridge :)
These look awesome very inspiring. What are your material break downs? are you over laying dirt and decals as transparencies? And are you rendering in Max? I watched a video of these vehicles in game very nice to see them moving.
There is a decent amount of info here https://www.artstation.com/artwork/59Nz1 They mention modular meshes for the blocky pieces below, decals for the eroded stone, probably a bunch of different texture blends for everything to give variation, detail maps too.
hey, thanks for looking into this for me Obscura; I was hoping to have quite a few decal geo done this way to avoid using loads of different alpha maps. Plus it'd be nice to see in the viewport as I work, artistically :(
aye, but it is also allot harder xD I will save that scenario for when I feel more confident in Zbrush :) @ Mark Dygert , yeh, I think I will go with this approach. There is also the option to use decals inside an engine.
Decal test. Learning a lot about painting minis. https://www.instagram.com/p/B9U5L2HjhPo/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet I may start a separate thread for Fantastic Tanks when I can gather my thoughts in a meaningful way.
Not much progress these days.. Been a bit busy at work..finally came home for holidays and started getting back at this slowly. Gave 1st pass of texture for Archs and updated some textures of pillars. Will breakdown repetition with custom decals.
this looks sick! awesome job! I might add a little more color variety in the armor pieces but that's just me. Im thinking maybe a decal or symbol of the company that made it would be cool and make it feel more grounded.
@purplekami Thnx man! Definately gonna add a lot of decals and stickers etc. Here is the final low of the chair, whithout the seat-belt because that has to be rigged first. Baked with marmoset 3 which works like a charm.
