We are Dark Art Games - Five developers currently producing an original game entitled "Star Knights" - It is a 3D Space/Planet RPG. The game uses a custom 3D engine, called "Star Engine" - which features lighting, shadows, post processing, states, sound etc. We are currently five members. Me(Antony) - Lead coder and…
When I apply a generator or smart material they typically use baked textures (curvature etc) to generate edge effects. Is there any way to use a painted height layer to add to this effect? Currently they are ignored or at least I cannot see how to use them. :poly115: Thanks
Rigging something like this is mostly about looking at what you want to directly control, probably the top platform, and then working your way front the start and end of the chain to make that work. For this you'd start with the pistons and having a track to constraint have the top half of the piston looking at points…
I tend to agree with Ged. I'd add more color. The grass is a great start, you can keep it all earthy and such. It just needs something extra. Being an old Cathedral, let's assume that they would have decorations and banners hanging down (more than Catholics do this but its who comes to my mind) to symbolize different…
perhaps yeah! Well, if you bake this in substance painter, you're going to not only get your normals, but you'll gett he AO, the curvature maps etc. which let's smart materials go to town and use this information and provide different results. It's not just throwing a material down and calling it a day. Some smart mats…
Thanks for the feedback! I agree about the lines; I'm working on those! And the brush strokes, which I only recently started using. The cassette player prop is my latest work; I plan to continue using this technique. I'm very inspired by Arcane's style; I want to do something in the same vein.
Hi everyone! So I mostly do stylized art but I'm a big fan of Star Wars and want to make a large scene. I want to make it a more realistic art style and check out if I can manage that. So as a test I made a gun from Star Wars... The DC-15S. The blaster is used by clone troopers in the republic era. I want to use this in…
Hey guys and gals. I have an issue I can't seem to figure out what is going on. You see I get these weird squares on in my texture using some (alot unfortunately) smart materials, And they don't appear to come when I try to recreate the material myself. I can get rid of it sometimes by removing some layers like dust or…
Hey PC. So I've been doing ships for STO for about 2 years now. Recently we held a Design the Next Enterprise contest. It was won by an artist named Adam Ihle. We took his original sketch and brought it in to our game as the next Enterprise in the Star Trek fiction. Here is a link to the development diaries.…
Itemization in this game is pretty bad and it's long been suspected it's because the real money auction house isn't out yet. But even once that's out I'm worried all they'll do is throw in some epics with bigger AC and stat values without actually spicing up the modifiers. Those shoulders aren't better than even average…
