An update on my progress :) I have finished setting up the material for the landscape and have imported the normal, detail and specular maps for the sand, grass, rock and flow layers. UDK doesn't seem to like applying 4 normal maps so I have had to leave the flow layer normal map out :( I need to also fix the grass tiling…
Really liking this so far. What the others said about needing to exaggerate the edges and insets for baking purposes are true though. Sort those out and it'll rock! :D

got the Arma2 Free and bought the AO expansion, unzipped the mod files into whatever folders, everything went smooth :D 4AM here now.. time for sleep .... good luck with that
