That material has no textures. I suggest you follow the tutorial that comes with the product. You do not understand enough of 3ds Max to problem solve on your own by stabbing in the dark. Following an official tutorial will not be a waste of your time.

^Following a tutorial is great for doing your first project similar to it, but it doesn't show that you learned anything or know the concepts or ideas presented in the video. My suggestion would be do something similar, but different enough it wouldn't be viewed as just following along with a tutorial.
Looks like you did a good job following the concept. I think the coolest thing about this piece that will really help it stand out is the trim lighting effects and the shock type things. Gona follow this one as I am interested to see it textured :)
Adding them into a circle is the way you add them to your stream. Don't think of it as the Facebook "friends" system, but more like Twitter's "follow" system, with the ability to put people into groups. Don't be shy to follow people you're interested in :) It doesn't have to be mutual.
