It's always something. I think its a lot of scaremongering to a degree. But when nothing happens next year I hope it puts and end to "the world is going to end on this date" thing. Pretty sure their was something in 2005 about the world ending two years from then.
removed the link, it was an artificial benchmark test (48 to 48 000 sided circle) to prove the adversary effect of thin triangles on performance NOT suggesting to use certain layouts for "caps" of low poly, with so little geometry at hands interpolation artifacts are much more dominant...
Cheers Eric, kind of getting back in to it. I dug out some work I did on sydney stadium from 2005 and that really helped I had actually forgotten most of what i knew then , weird WIP still needs loads of work , but i am enjoying it more now at least

Thats because of the lerp (0,0.5). If you would replace the 0.5 with 1 or change the if to output 0-1s in a way that is ideal for you, you could get rid of the lerp and the adding with itself. If you would change the lerp to be 0,1 you could get rid just of the adding with itself part.
Okay, so I've made the height map less dark in the grouting, and this is the result. New Height Map: I'm still having this weird issue when I zoom in in the mat editor, I have also decreased the height ratio from 0.05 to 0.015 to stop it being ridiculously exaggerated.
