Quite fun trying to replicate a material in a photograph. I wish I had a better test model though. Not quite happy, but getting there. There are 3 light sources and an environment map for the ambient light + reflections as well which I could not fit in the screenshot. Using a Mental Mill generated CGFX shader.
Hey monster, I wasn't able to replicate the bug for an entire day at work. So I will attempt again tomorrow. It may have been some weird fluke, I don't know. I might try it at home again today as well. Will let you know if anything comes up/.
Quick Question, do i have to follow the references all that closely? or are they just an example of a "scifi wall"? Because I was going to try and replicate the Star Wars Death Star walls (tongue twister!). Like this: Specifically the light wall on the right and walls next to it. (It's also surprisingly hard to find…
Finally a new update. As of right now I have been sculpting the assets to get my normals. Also I have been continuing texture work, as well as putting in snow, and workin on its shader. (shader not active in viewport). As for the fur alphas at the moment, is there a better way to replicate a thick fur?
Thanks! We have a very specific art guide for environments that is intended to replicate the look of SNES-era sprite sheets. So that grass for example is based off of how grass tiled in Secret of Mana. Some of the retro nods are more obvious than others :) And if you can believe it, it's all Java!
use the image tag to show images [image] address [/image] and its looking pretty good.. I admit I'm not a student of ancient Mediterranean architecture to know the differences between greek and etruscan, but it looks very much like any of the other replications of this temple I've seen on tv or anywhere else.
Hi there, I'm Vince, this is my first 3D post here, I've mostly been mostly a lurker on CG stuff whilst I was still doing work for my degree, this being my final project I finish for my degree. You can find more of my stuff on artstation.com/nok3 if you're curious of the stuff I've been doing so far. So this is my…
People will always compare it to the original and look down on it if its not as good as theirs. If you take the idea of Metal Gear Rex and make a version of it that is current gen and it looks incredible you could get away with it. Replicating exactly what has already been done is bad imo. Make it your own.
Woops. Well I made a new file and tested sRGB and it seems to be working fine. I'll do a few tests later to see if I can find out why. The issue can still be replicated and doesn't seem to be fixable in the file I first tried it on, I'm just unsure why.
@dschmidt3d Thanks for the tips! I think I could up the global illumination on some of the lights to help with that. @ArNavart That's definitely not good. What browser are you using? I haven't been able to replicate the issue with chrome, firefox or edge. So I really have no idea what would cause that.
