Models coming from Maya to Max often need their transforms reset. Did you try Reset Xform, followed by Collapse? Also could be the renderer you are using. Is it set to Mentalray? Go to Render Setup to see. Mentalray has had the problem of trying to render both the highpoly and the lowpoly model into the bake. I've also…
Do you see the framebuffer window while it is rendering? What is your Renderer set to? Mentalray has had trouble in the past with baking when the highpoly uses a Mentalray material. "File Name And Type:" has a path in it, have you checked there? It's not a problem to create new threads. This is what the forum is for! If…
Maya LT is designed to be used for games. So it's not really supposed to be used for making short films and doesn't support exporting to any offline renderers like Arnold, Mentalray, or Renderman.
Updated to version 1.1 Changelog: Added support for Standard(Scanline) and MentalRay(Arch&Design) materials. The grayScalled controls not works with those materials. Added new video in the first post.
I think i'll use nParticles and driving with fluid and curlNoise. All dynamics in Maya, render with mentalRay and compositing with Nuke. for the impact maybe something like this : https://vimeo.com/81277405

hey guys, i have a question here that its killing me, I really hope there´s a way to do it. I need to bake a 8 million mesh high and I need to setup a network rendering (small renderfarm) to bake it. But I dont seem to find where and how. I already have 4 pc setup with mentalray standalone. Any ideas? Is that the same as…
Pior: - yep, it is the standard MentalRay fast skin shader in 3dsmax - never used it before, but it is very straight forward to use - just wanted to test it on this model Jackablade: - Nope, only 1.55b
Hey, interesting trick. Another quickie one, similar quality, is to use the "Round Corners" option in the mentalray Arch & Design material. Doesn't work on all hard edges, but it's super quick.
