Because i feel like texturing is a weak point of mine, i try to photosource as little as possible, and achieve as close to realistic as i can without them. HOWEVER I do this purely as a learning exercise, it is quicker, easier, and more often than not better to photosource if you're doing anything realistic.
If dDo is cheating then using photo ref in your textures is cheating. You must hand paint everything to not cheat. This includes photo-realistic models. If you don't know how to paint and draw photo-realistically, how dare you take a photo of rust or scratches and "automate" the painting of rust or scratches? :)
I think he brought it up because MW3 has to do with realistic war, rather than dragon borns, skeleton, dragons, clans. Many kids dont understand it you know. MW3 is almost like a realistic war. So, chances of violence happening from that are higher than Skyrim.
now and past - head freckles are deleted for now (I will find a way to make more "realistic" freckles in the future-)the lips are now smaller and look more realistic than before. the head and the eyes are still the same but after getting a clue on how to modificate them in a intelligent way you will see a picture.
Ah ok gotcha :) and im not sure yet, either that or I'll make it look as realistic as possible. Looking more to the realistic route though, since I want the rest of my work to be in that style too. But if you think it would be better to make some toon shader for this project then im all ears :)
Me too, it may be quick and dirty but it's gonna be much more realistic. Of course realistic isn't always what you want, so you could maybe exaggerate what you end up with by sculpting a bit of extra detail. Reactor should give you a nice base to work with though!
I usually like doing it on airplane flights and places where a laptop/wacom combo isn't realistic. The lack of pressure stinks. But there are things like http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jonatherton/jaja-worlds-first-pressure-sensitive-stylus-for-ip in the pipes. So maybe soon that will be more realistic.
I wanted to share a recent experience that proves that hiring doesn't always come down to ones portfolio or profile and transparency in a company's standing and hiring process could be improved. Its a challenging time in the industry so even if there's interest it may not necessarily mean that the company is actually…
I have next to no experience in enviromental modeling. But now I run into problem because I need to create an project that need to have a realistic view of the sky. I could not quite figure out how the enviromental ball and other textures works in Maya. Would anyone be so kind to give me some hint, tutorial or link to…
