I'm looking for someone to make some 3D models based off some Starships from The Orville TV Show. I would like to start with one then commission more work if it goes well (total it would be around 5 models). I would like these in .obj format. These don't need to be super detailed, just usable in a game. The "Krill…
Animating combat with acrobatics is always challenging, I'd say. It is quite hard to show correct physics in characters' movements, especially if they jump and fly around in impossible manner, but you still need to sell it in believable ways. Add punches and sword hits. You got to have good sense of timing in order to make…
I figure this should be relatively simply but it's been giving me a hard time. Can you use a texture map for glow and still render in mental ray? From what I've seen it doesn't seem to work. Would it better to just render the glow in software and comp it in after the fact? If so how can you just render glow with an alpha…
You asked for it. Remember you can also ignore this post. If you did not appreciate the response. Long story short; its very cold & mechanical but i don't see much cuteness & fun factor, (for me). Think a stylized approach to this kind of design would've spoken louder than a startwars rolling bot (one of the many they seem…
I am pretty stumped by this , after watching a few people develop environments inside udk. 1) How would you go by introducing content to the udk? I currently import each static mesh separately, and build the world by hand. I have seen a few people import the environment built inside max to UDK? 2) Should I worry about…
If it's not very clear to the user, what about having a preview shader ? I can write you one quickly if you want. It seems like that's a very minor disadvantage compared to the advantages of vertexcolors (no texture memory used, just light vertexcolor data, no pre-processign RTT step, live viewable...). Also vertex color…
Wow, those FPS rates sound really low Vig. Although I guess animation/skinning is what's slowing stuff down? I get 100+fps in Max with a 1-2million triangle scene with a few textures in, and about 30fps in Maya with the same. As soon as I skin something vaguely complex in Max then it slows right down though... not sure why…
I have finished my vinyl jukobox! It is one of my official first 3D models that are done. I have struggled quite a lot with it, as I am usually learning as I go; the progress is very slow, and there have been times where I spent an entire day on something only to not get anywhere. Now that I am finished, I can see so many…
