Thanks for the discussion and feedback surrounding my magic axe, a hilt was definately a consideration when modelling, but like Ysalex mentions I thought the 'magicness' of it outweighed that design aspect, evidentially to some peoples criticism. It will sit higher on my list of priorities in future :D Quicky from me :3...…
I mean, it's a magic sword made of unmelting ice. It has a face. I would say given this, imagining someone holding it is easy, in terms of believability. It is also great work.
Really nice play with the FOV feature, I like it! Edit: maybe I would do a kind of vortex or a distant tunnel exit a instead of a black base, I think it breaks the magic a bit :\
Not trying to give you a hard time, but if you want you can triangulate circles like that in the shape of a fan and save one triangle. It's magic! Nice texture btw, maybe could use some sharper detail/contrast here and there.
@VKP, ha, yea i guess i just contradicted myself pretty grandly. I mean, i hate all that fantasy manga where they have spikey huge hair and rattle on about magical spells, or randomly have cat ears....
Thanks Hertz, i've been looking for that link! it's one of a million ongoing projects, but i can't say that i'm working on it right now. The music is magical voice shower (ex?) from pop'n music. and i really ought to upload the version with accurate collision detection hahah.
ahh ok haha I was racking my brains of how I could do it, for the blade I have used 4 tris (plane with two polys) so I could use symmetry for the texture. The handle is 3 sides as well so maybe xaltar has a magical way :D!!
sheckee - That's just the filter doing its magic. It'll darken one side of your edges and lighten the other side. It gives the illusion of being sharper (high contrast looks sharper). Obviously there's more going on under the hood, but that's a basic way of looking at it. You can always paint that out if it's unwanted.
