yeah, this isnt really specific to UE3 and if you set your compression type to TC_Normal map on import it will do this automatically. The reason it does this is textures go from 0-255 but normal maps represent a vector in each axis, and the vector can go from -1 to 1 so you have to unpack those channels(Axis) from 0-1…
I heard, 16 Unreal unit = 1 Foot But 1 foot in Maya doesnt exactly match with 1 foot UDK ? by lil mismatch I guess its acurate with Max but How am I going to match units between UDK and Maya ?
is the left a shot of your texture in UDK? Are you using the correct compression settings? it should be TC_Normalmap, which should make []sRGB unchecked and the min settings set to -1,-1,-1,0
Unreal starts at 0 and max at 1. Therefore max UV layout 2 = unreal layout 1. Don't think that will solve your issue though, just something I picked up on.
Yup I think you should leave that one set to 0. By default TC_Normalmap compression should set all of the Unpack Max to 1 and the Unpack Min [0],[1], and [2] to -1, it leaves the [3] setting at 0. JordanW explained a bit about this stuff one page back, here and here. Oh it looks like you also need to uncheck sRGB, that's…
