Hey guys, So I'm modeling my first legit character. I'm trying to make it have good topology and everything. For some reason it's looking super blocky though. Will this go away once I start texturing?
Hm, you just added it in? If it's a part of the skin (I'm assuming that's what it is, and not a shoulder pad :P), then you're gonna need to merge the vertices. Select the verts you want to merge, then Mesh>Merge. You might need to open the channel box and increase the Threshold (1 usually works) if you're merging lots at…
Worry more about the normals/shading until much later. Newly added edges don't always pop in the way you actually need them. Personally, I reset everything to hard edges periodically until I have good base forms (when it's not distracting to be smoothed).
You da man!! I added this little piece to the shoulder and merged the vertexes but it doesn't seem to blend in with the rest of the character. I can't just add pieces like that right? I have to extrude them I guess or is there some other way to fix it.
