i'd say the only influential person working at Valve is a man named Robin Walker. Because, back in 1996, that class based teamy thing was a hell of an influence. He deserves a lot more credit for influence than Gabe Newell, and i'm not even counting TFC or TF2. -

The problem here is the use of the word influential...its very vague really. These guys learned how to make lots of money from games. They didn't influence gaming as a culture, movement or technology... but they certainly did as an industry. They figured out how to monetize it really well..which in turn had some residual… -
