hey i was just wondering the best way to practice 2d skills. obviously drawing is important but is it just as good and perhaps better to do photoshop painting instead. it forces you to deal with colors as well and blending/shading more thoroughly. I'd actively do both, but would put more focus on drawing if you're in the early learning stages. It's the most basic and straightforward way to put marks down to make pictures - which is really all drawing and painting are.
Drawing on a tablet is slightly harder than paper, but I enjoy painting in photoshop. I just hate having to scan into photoshop... I feel like its a handicap
From my experience, I would say drawing for sure. It's always great to have a really good artistic base. Besides, painting is just gonna add in a ton more principles and things to learn, which will just make it harder to focus on each area where you need to improve.
